The Johnson Street Disc Golf Course was born in 1991, mainly using utility right of ways as fairways and gravel for tee boxes. But in 1998, the Oak Hollow Disc Golf Club emerged and started raising funds for course improvements. In 2000, the city installed a parking lot, a new course sign, and over 50 trees and shrubs which led to many holes being altered for safety and hole definition. ! Through local tournaments and High Point Parks and Recreation, the majority of the course has been redesigned.
This is an 18 hole course with a good mix of open and wooded holes. There are three sets of concrete pads (white, blue and gold) available at all times. The White and Blue tee pads are designed for everyday play for the amateur to professional player. The Gold tees are designed to challenge even the best Pro's skills (these tees are mainly two shot holes, not just pitch and putt).
With HP Parks & Recreation's cooperation, the OHDGC has been designing a championship course here in High Point, NC!
The Johnson Street Park course is nestled on the North side of High Point, North Carolina. It is one of the few public parks that is exclusively dedicated to disc golf! It is just North of the 311 by-pass on Johnson Street, just beside the fire station. You cannot miss the sign!
